Iowa crop report
It’s all rainbows and tad poles in Iowa. Put on my hip waders, took my canoe, and went out to check crop conditions on my early planted soybeans. I had stuffed them in the ground April 22-25. Planted them green in standing cereal rye that was over a foot tall. Then couldn’t get back to kill the rye until the first part of May. (one halfway dry day)
Took the beans almost three weeks to come up and now they need snorkels. Standing water everywhere tops of the hills, side of the hills, or bottoms it makes no deference. Tile lines are running plum full and the water is backed up to the top of the terraces.
Just cause the crop is in the ground sure doesn’t look like a guarantee of a bumper crop.
