.......no planting here this week.  .6 yesterday and another thunderstorm just rolled through today.  58% of the corn is planted nationwide?  I would say it's less than 2% in my neighborhood.  I really am kind of glad that I have nothing planted.  Much of it would've been flooded out anyways.  

There are three ethanol plants within about 30 miles or so from me.  They are going to struggle to stay open nine months or so from now.  They have rail, but just how far are they going to have to ship it? Let the bidding begin for my bushels of corn still in the bin.....$4.50?nope......$5.00?.......nope..... $5.50?......ok, you've got my attention. But still no.

We better keep an eye on imports from South America before we get too full of ourselves and our asking prices for bushels in the bin and bushels to be grown. Strong dollar and cheap freight and the boat loads might start arriving.

We are 3 weeks away from putting a 7 back in the corn. If I had corn left in the bin that’s what it would take to get it out of my bins. I am hoping they don’t open limit up so I can buy some more but I think that is wishful thinking 🥺

So how do we get the boats here? Can’t even get barges down the Mississippi and Missouri rivers let alone up the rivers

My bin is full but I hedged it all a year ago at $4.05.  Was feeling pretty smart until a couple weeks ago!!  But that's a nice problem to have. Only half my corn planted this year, half of that is up and looking decent, so I can probably sell it in the sixes for next summer. Doubt I'll get the other half planted. 

nutlug is right about Brazil though - they'll go bonkers with their second crop corn with prices that high. We want a good price, but we don't want to get greedy and damage demand. I can make a very nice profit at $5 corn and keep whoever makes green paint for John Deere busy.  $7 is great once in a while, but we all know that can't last.

Basically we`ve erased our "burdensome" carryovers...erased the pipeline pretty soon here and no one is more surprised we are talking about this than me....it`s like the Twilight Zone, man. So Brazil is licking their chops about exporting beans to the US and Argentine corn here.  Our President won`t put up with it, he`ll tariff the grain and oilseeds coming in.

Howeeeeever, I can write the media headlines now "Trump Tariffs lead to 50% Spike in Food Prices!", that will be the reporting to the 98% non-farmer masses ...so, get your hip boots ready , cause it`s gonna git deep.

B A   -   Hopefully  there  is  a  tariff  on  soy meal  headed  for  carolina ,  or  maybe  will  it   originate  from  the  new  nafta  countries  without  one  - ? 

Also,  Whom ,   will  end  up  paying  the  tariff ,  other  than  the  U S A   consumer -  ?

For one, Brazil doesn't have to worry about exporting soybeans to the US, they've already got the whole Chinese market to themselves and last I saw Brazilian beans were priced 40-50 per ton higher than US beans. And by the time they're done they will ship their full quota of beans and corn at much higher prices.

  Two, if trump does put a tariff on imported grains, that would just be punishing the end user and consumer but I guess he's got to pay for that next MFP somehow.

K-289.   Those that "pay" for tariffs are those who previously weren`t paying the REAL costs of the products that they were buying.  If US workers` factory moves to China and we lose living wage jobs.  Our workers work part time jobs and US taxpayers are on the hook for their healthcare and other entitlements that they previously could pay from their wages....it`s the multi national corporations that have been laughing all the way to the bank for the last 30 years.   and oh yeah consumers get their cheap junk at Walmart, keeps them far, dumb & happy.

The real question is "Who pays for social costs when tariffs are not in place?"  Answer: US taxpayers...and the budget deficit, due to bloated entitlements.  

I`ve answered this many times and no Lib can dispute it...and I`m sure I`ll have to answer it many more times...water off the duck`s tail.   sigh.

The consumer/taxpayer pays for everything - and I mean EVERYTHING!!

Who pays for those corporate names on stadiums and suites at the games?

Who pays for all those ad campaigns?

Who pays all those inflated corporate salaries and perks, including the "non-profit" health care outfits?

Who pays for your cap with the company logo on it?

Who pays for that military budget that is higher than the next 10 or whatever number of countries combined?

Oh by the way - can we taxpayers send a heftier bill to big oil for protecting their business all over the world?

How many billions a year does it cost to keep the USS Ronald Reagan and the 7th fleet at sea?

And who pays the salaries and health care costs of our congressman and senators?

Now there's a real waste of money.  Enter Congress poor - retire a multi millionaire.  Quite a gig!!
