Re: It's the weekend
Did something wrong and can't add text to the above picture. It was Thurs afternoon shot with the cell phone through a very dirty back window. 600 bu ear corn on wagons for calf feed. Kind of a grandpa thing. The old picker hadn't been used in a couple of years but worked great.
The last two rows of 2012 harvest.

Re: It's the weekend
Hobby, when I started farming I lived on a half section that we had to pick the landlord's share. I had one of those and not fond memories. Later got a jd 300 husker and a 3 row head. Was great when I got wagons big enuf to hold a halfmile round. My God I'm getting to be an old !&*#.

Re: It's the weekend
Yea the wagon thing... just out of sight to the right side of the picture is my friend and neighbor with his elevator set up on the edge of the field filling 500 bu Parker wagons from these little teaspoon sized wagons that is all that will fit under this picker. Four little ones to one big one. The rats and mice haven't figured out how to get in the big ones. Wish I had roll tarps on them as they take a bunch of shed space.
Two rows at a time 2point 8 mph was all the picker had capacity for in that "pretty good" corn.
Also very nice to grind out of ... NO scooping.

Re: It's the weekend
whats this "cell phone" and window? you know you should be pulling that picker with an open station tractor 3020, 4020, 4000 or maybe a farmall M like I drove as a kid. but I have good memories of corn picking time. get home from school anbd go haul corn. IA good way to get out of milking the cows Maybe even get to skip school to help pick corn!!

Re: It's the weekend
I miss the days that when picking corn with the Oliver 880 and the New Idea picker got me out of milking the cows for the evening too!
