Re: MT vs Buck - who won?

I'm a spec trader because you disagree with me and I want to sell/hedge for profit.  What a bizzaro world we live in.

Re: MT vs Buck - who won?

Re: MT vs Buck - who won?

What I read in MT is that he's argueing against the mindset of farmers that the market "always goes back down".  That now in 2012 there's a projected record crop, he's saying it's not in the bin yet and weather can lower the crop, and that world demand is catching up to supply in a general way.

It appears he's carried his message fairly well, it looks like more posters on these boards are thinking that maybe we won't have to go back to the years of below cost of production, but of course the market itself has helped with that.

Re: MT has his opinion and he is welcome to it

However, he can't accept a contrary opinion without challenging ones intelligence for thinking differently.

A marketing guru in his own mind. I wonder how many lost a buck bushel on corn on the strength of his can't possibly go down mantra.

I must give MT credit though that he was right until he was incredibly wrong. Fundementals are not the only factor in market trends. The basic psychology of our economic and financial of today can even be more instrumental in market direction. Insecurity in Greece can and does impact traders on ths side the world. The only thing certain is uncertainty.

Will price recover? Yes they will but we do not know if it is this crop year or some what later.

I gotta give Palouser credit. He can disagree without being disagreeable.

Re: MT has his opinion and he is welcome to it

He was right last year because it was a once in a decade bull market that didn't die,  so the situation made him look like he knew what he was doing.  Another word for what he did was "being a cheerleader".  Now he has a huge inflated ego and a market working against him.  That is why when someone comes on here and says he is wrong, he attacks,  He attacks personally.

Re: MT has his opinion and he is welcome to it

With an ever incresing population the three "F's" become more inportant. In the grand scope of things we can have a down turn for a while (might be a year or two) but with a few hundred years of stable fairly predictable weather we have be lulled into a status quo thing of more and better technology will save us. This planet has a LONG history of change ... sometimes for the better sometimes not.

I personally would bet on

FOOD

FIBER

&

FUEL

in the long run.

What we need to focus on is the longer picture. Here in this country we have been trained on Monthly PMTS and quarterly reports. All fine and dandy but is kind on like the old saying of "can't see the forest for the trees" . There will be Black Swan events and hickups along the way. The Japenese aren't being consumed by that as they just bought the worlds 3rd largest grain handler this last week.

Maybe I have watched Jim Rogers once too many times?
