Marketeye Goes To Brazil

As the world grain trade awaits the South American soybean harvest, I will be traveling to Brazil February 5-17, to join a Crop Expedition with RPC, a Brazilian media company. Watch for reports on corn and soybean yields as they come out of the fields.

While in Brazil, I will be traveling through the countryside capturing the harvest activity and the reactions of farmers and other industry leaders regarding the 2011 production.

Be sure to see the latest crop photos, farm-based stories, and video reports from Brazil beginning next week on Agriculture.com.

Meanwhile, my reports will highlight the latest crop technology that Brazilian farmers are implementing into their operations. Agriculture.com’s Brazilian version of its Crop Tech Tour will be underway, taking a look at the equipment, precision ag, communications, and agronomic issues in Brazil.

I live in the city of Passo Fundo. It is one of the main region for beans and corn production in Brazil. You will find some of the top producers in the region and also some big biodiesel plants. February is the start of the corn harvest. You can have easy access by plane.

Great news. When I hit the red dirt, I will contact you. Can I ride in your combine with you?  🙂 Also, what kind of yields are you expecting,  corn=    soybeans=/

Off course we can make a tour. No problem about that. For corn, we are expecting good yields between 170 and 190 bu/acre. For soybeans, no problem with La Nina until now, some more rains until March and probably we will have 50 to 59 bu/acre.

Look forward to your reports.   Wish I could do the same someday....bet it would expand my thinking alot.  Safe travels....looks like the markets are going to be exciting while you are gone.  Soon will be spring here, and it will be our job to raise the biggest crop we can...if it can be done...the American farmer will do it.
