Marketing Meeting??
Back in the "goods old days" of high grain prices, everyone was gung-ho for a marketing meeting. Now that prices have tanked, and marketing strategies can make a bigger difference to the bottom line, where is everyone? Why not do something proactive, creative, and constuctive, instead of whining about low prices, high costs, and jumping down each others throats. There has been talk of cutting costs, but what are you doing for price enhancement?

Re: Marketing Meeting??
Probably the wrong time of year Clayton everyone is to busy to consider a marketing meet up now. I'd bet you'd have better luck organizing one during the winter.

Re: Marketing Meeting??
So far my marketing plan has been to hold my breath, Mark Gold doesn`t think that`s a good plan 🙂
Some how a marketing meeting telling "how to get $4" doesn`t seem as much fun as one that tells how to get $8 and "hold out for $10".
Actually, maybe ideas on cutting expenses is where the survial will come from. If you look at a $3 bushel of corn like a raw block of wood and figure how to use a chisel to carve a profit out of that. In the past it looks like for every 5 year "party" there are 20 lean years, however life goes on, babies are born in the lean years too.

Re: Marketing Meeting??
Oh I hope I`m wrong Ken, at least we got Ethanol "this" time, however the crooks are trying to kill it every chance they get. But, you look at the late 80`s, 90`s and early 2000`s prices sucked, a guy lived off the farm program. Those that played the farm bill well...multiple entities and such bought farms with their payments while the rest of us bought groceries with ours 🙂
In about `95 we had a small rally of $5 due to the "hedge to arrive" debacle coupled with a drought, but that was dust in the wind.
But 77 is the "new 37" so I think you`ll enjoy the next party 🙂 But I hear ya on knee trouble, I think I tore my ACL, I suppose that`ll mean going under the knife, but I`ll hobble along until after combining. Shifting a manual transmission ain`t no fun.

Re: Marketing Meeting?? Torn ACL
If you really tore your ACL, do not wait to get it fixed. Putting it off may resuslt in permanent damage. Fix it now and you will be back in action before harvest. Been there, done that! Had mine fixed in May, 1980. I went from crutches to driving the planter tractor in a week. Not a pain since then. The doctor said he would get me 30 good years. That was 34 years ago......Soyroy
