Milk prices -- is this realistic, JR?

$17/CWT. That's what one Illinois specialist says a dairy farmer needs to make off his milk this year in Illinois to stay in the black. Is this about right for your neck of the woods too, JR?

Dry enough to do anything out there in the field today for anybody?

Hay mower is going now! Pics tomorrow at 7 am. Mike is prolly close. but 17 is what I would call breakeven not going to pay off bacj debt and old bills. I have some other thoughts but My phone just rang and I'll bet the mower guy is broke down!

Breif hiatus:

Well the A/C isn't working but the rest of the mower is. Somebodys gonna lose some weight today! HE HE

Funny thing is that while meats have been building stocks dairy products have been keeping fairly current. Especially powder. And that powder market has been driving us higher all year. BTW last check I got 20.19/cwt.

I'll post more later.

Re: Milk prices -- is this realistic, JR?

I might be able to go Thursday afternoon if we luck out and don't get the rain coming out of the NW today from lower Michigan.  We've been bypassed pretty much by the last 2 or 3 storms,  just a few tenths here and there.  Drove south about 80 miles yesterday to look at a tractor and saw they have been getting blasted.  From the looks of it they had maybe a day or 2 of planting before getting rained out.  Some places won't be able to work for a week if no more rain comes.  Doesn't look good outside now though with a red sky.
