Re: Monday report

South American Weather

•A high pressure ridge anchored in eastern and northeastern Brazil is preventing any significant moisture from falling.

–A large pool of very warm water in the southern Atlantic ocean off the southeastern coast of Brazil is thought to be responsible for the blocking pattern.

•Argentina soil moisture has been restored to adequate levels in almost all areas.

–But at the same time, soils are drying out much of Brazil.

•Brazil rainfall and soil moisture was excellent in December into mid January, but thing are now drying down.

–No major crop losses are expected at this time, but stress is building.
