Re: More corn in the cards?
Wcmo, when a wheat crop is declared failed, the only way a follow up crop can be insured is if the producer does not collect a payment. If he takes a payment, the next crop is uninsurable.

Re: More corn in the cards?
I'm going to check with my agent on this. A coupe years ago I had a wheat crop get completely mowed over with hail. I received a healthy hail insurance check as well as a nice crop insurance check. I had plenty of soil moisture, but couldn't insure a second crop because dryland couldn't be double cropped. If I could have split the coverage, I might have been able to plant milo or soybeans or something. Thanks for the info.

Re: More corn in the cards?
Wcmo, it might be possible that rules governing insuring second crop after payout of the first, due to location, but I doubt it. I have discussed this at great length wis my agent. The answer always comes back "NO. Not gonna happen."
