Mountain Dew

Eagle eye had an interesting story this morning
That "should" form a maybe different outlook.
Seems that China wants to go all ethanol by
2020....
Perhaps they see the handwriting on the wall.
Going forward maybe it's cheaper to go ethanol,
Than fight over gas. "Seems" an abundance of
Grain world wide. They have a number of vehicles
There, but dont go far......but I've read a story
Somewhere else that they wanted to go all
Electric too. Most have short distances and
"Zero emessions would be good.

The question is....how will "the market" understand
It ? Seems they don't understand much.

Re: Mountain Dew

Chinese gasoline demand has tripled since 2000 and is growing at 10-12% per year

Chinese demand for gasoline is about 25% of US....so ~35 byn gallons per year

about 3.5 byn gallons of ethanol needed to have the fleet use 10% ethanol

using a 2.75 gallon per bushel production rate

would use 1.273 billion bushels of corn

China expected to grow 8.6 byn bushels of corn this year

I wouldn't go buy a new combine  based on this news

and with the announcement of going "all electric" as well-----makes a person wonder if the various Chinese state agencies spend much time talking to each other!!

Peak Whale Blubber

Just thinking about how , at the height of the Chicken Little "OMG, we are going to run out of Oil" , fear mongering a few years ago, how the more gullible were all in on that "fact" and now we have at least a 500 year supply here in the USA.

But you will always have the naïve and the gullible, and the con guys capitalizing on them. Maybe one of them thinks his elected officials dropped the twin towers, too. If that is the case, by all means vote to give them more power over your life.

Re: Mountain Dew

So if China goes 100% ethanol like they're saying not 10% that's 12 billion bushels according to your math. Leaves -3.4 just for E use.? Now what do they eat? Maybe oil seems like there's enough of it now that it's not trading at 150$ a barrel, curious.

Cheapo - your words signify 2 dimensional thinking.

Scotty will have us on dylithium crystals by then!!Smiley Happy

All ahead Warp Factor 7.

Either that or Yellowstone is going to blow soon and it won't matter.

That baby will do quite a number on the northern hemisphere.

Re: Mountain Dew

This from Reuters

It’s the first time the government has set a targeted timeline for pushing the biofuel, known as E10 and containing 10 percent ethanol, across the world’s largest car market, although it has yet to announce a formal policy.

can someone please post a link to any stories suggesting they are going to run on 100% ethanol in car fleet

Re: Mountain Dew

Henry Ford  &  Charlie Kettering  were  the  forerunners of this  10 decades back ,  then came Edwin Drake in Titusville Pa , times  A changing rethink ---

CNBC  &  Reuters  has  articles examining this today  &  the  '' smog photo ''  pretty much sums it up ,   NOT FAKE NEWS  as the deniers would repute ---
