N Dakota wheat condition

Heard from several sources that whatever the numbers for spring wheat in the report the actual production is going to be lower as continued wet and heavy dews are causing a recent wave of disease to run rampant through the crop, even though it has been sprayed.

Re: N Dakota wheat condition

That what i have been seeing here in NE ND the crop looked amazing two weeks ago and is slipping fast.  The reports coming out of Southern ND and MN where harvest has begun is the crop is disappointing with 50 to 60 straw and hard time to yield 30 bushels and later the crop is worse seems to be getting.  Also neighbors that are custom harvesters said the crop they harvested of hard red winter wheat was as best 30 bushel crop only harvested a few fields in the 50's and most part harvested in 30's even down into the teens. I think before year is done wheat numbers are going to be adjusted some for yield. I also think ending wheat figure could get pretty tight with lower production and the amount of wheat  that is getting fed right now instead of corn.  IF you had any quality issues like protein, falling numbers, test weight   with your wheat  price of wheat was way cheaper than a bushel of corn.  The ending stocks for all the commoditties are going to get tight before the year ends.

Can't speak for N. Dakota, but an acquaintance in SC South Dakota said they had 7 inches of rain in 24 hours, and knew of places that got 11+ in a 24 hour period.

Re: N Dakota wheat condition

Heard quite a few reports this week.  Getting half the bushels they have the last 2 years.  Combines sinking out of site.  Driving full grain carts MILES to get to a place they can load trucks.
