New estimates for soybeans in South America
Consultancy Safras e Mercado, based in Porto Alegre (Brazil), released new estimates about the soybeans crop in the 2012/13 season in South America. The production in the region would be 145 million tons. Brazil would produce a total of 82.23 million tons, while Argentina would account for 50 million tons. The Argentinean exports are estimated on nine million tons (last year was five million).
Paraguay would have a growth of 100 percent against last year, harvesting 8.6 million tons. In Bolivia, there is going to be also a significant increase of the amount of soybeans harvested with 2.6 million tons this year. The projection of Uruguay is to have 1.9 million soybean crop - 19 percent over the previous season.
