Re: No USDA...now what?

I think there will be various sources that will try to fill the vacumn. Probably, the normal gurus from the various advisory services.

In the near future, the rumors from the coops and grain merchants as the reports of production come in from the fields. Soon we won't have to rely on predictions. We will have hard evidence.

Re: No USDA...now what?

Great question Jeff,

I believe the one area that will be affected is ag lending.  How do you make loans?  I believe a great deal of the farm bill is now about protecting the lending in Ag. I think American farmers and Ag biz in general, should be proud that ag lending is strong.  The weakest links in the ag lending area have had protections from the government.

Re: No USDA...now what?

No worries Jeff, just got done doing payroll, the most important website has plenty of funding to stay running.

I like the first important update, "continue to make your tax deposits and payments"...what if I don't?...the gov't is shutdown...hmmmm.

Re: No USDA...now what?

as long as you  don't farm rice, or cotton   its that easy.  Down  south that $100 buck an acre comes in mighty handy    sugar cane is even more heavily subisided.

Re: No USDA...now what?

Can't turn in my crop damage deer permits. Other than that, I posted a rant a couple weeks ago about why I'm done with the USDA anyway. Biggest reason was a local "leak"of information.
