North/South Dakota corn acreage
From what I'm reading, it seems that with the flooding the resulting loss of opportunity to plant corn will be a serious possibility. What is the prevented planting date for corn in North/South Dakota? Will there also be a reduction in spring wheat acres?..How about planting to soybeans? When do you call off the planting altogether in North Dakota..and how many acres can we include in this kind of scenario?

Re: North/South Dakota corn acreage
Pup, its hard to determine the lost acres at this moment as the water has just started to go down. Roads are the biggest issue. There will be alot fewer acres of Spring Wheat and Oats get planted. With Prevent Plant Im sure those acres are corn. There will be beans planted into June. Those additional 1.2 million acres the USDA is looking for are probably the same ones that were underwater last year, Its different this year the water is a little bit deeper.

Re: North/South Dakota corn acreage
Schools closed across S. Dak. snow and ice and high water. Limited roads to travel on. Not very nice calving weather. Only equipment moving are bobcats, excavators, and trucks loaded with rock.
