Re: Nov 23 R-bob Marketing
It’s Mankato that has been running 50-70 cents higher.
Word has spread. Lines all day long at the Kwik Trips on both ends of St Peter.

Re: " to make electric vehicles look less crazy", yeah like crazy, man!
Our electric car costs 55 cents per gallon equivalent to operate. 250,000 miles on electricity will just about save the purchase price of the vehicle in operating costs.
I calculated similar savings for a Ford Lighting pickup, total ownership & operating costs over 250,000 is just like getting the vehicle for free.

Let the market decide at the pace that we get electric vehicles, don`t have the government put their thumb on the scale. Believe me, if there is an actual advantage to electric vehicles, the market will move even FASTER than government mandates.

Well, it`s like if the damned government got a bug in their butt to outlaw corn for feed and instead promote wheat, because some Fauci type idiot decided that he didn`t like corn. Well, the government would subsidize the heck out of wheat and tax the production of corn. Some Dem governors would even ban the sale of corn in their state after the year 2030.
Anyone with a lick of common sense would say, let corn and wheat battle it out in the marketplace.
* truth be told, the idiot government would just ban animal agriculture which is what they want all along

Re: : Yeah sure, "Let the market decide",
In 1927, the republicans in Congress passed the Oil Depletion Allowance which exempted the first 27.5% of the gross income from oil (wellhead price or first purchase price) in order to accelerate the establishment of the automobile, the automobile industry, and notably the petroleum industry. I didn't say tax cut on the net income but the exclusion of 27.5% of the gross income. Hay farmers growing hay for horses couldn't begin to compete and eventually, they even drove the RRs out as well.
So, don't tell me about "let the market decide", besides, farmers have a lot to talk about with regards to "let the market decide".

Re: : Yeah sure, "Let the market decide",
You guys (Democrats) really like to be told what to do, don`t you get enough bossing around from your wives? 😀
There are countless times in history where the market met demand, Henry Ford made cars affordable for the masses, the government didn`t mess with the Ford Motor Company and no one was mandated to buy Fords ... and that`s good
In the 80`s consumers bought mini vans and had "Baby on Board" signs in the window, the Dodge Caravan wasn`t mandated.
I see Tesla`s on the road all over, the Kum & Go gas station at Sherburn Minnesota has travelers reading novels while their EV`s are getting recharged. They seem to like it and when the rest of us see how much fun that is to catch up on reading every time we travel 200 miles, we`ll be sure to get our names on the waiting list for that fun. No proclamation from the governor to ban the sales of combustible engine autos by 2030 required.

Re: : Yeah sure, "Let the market decide",
Well, K-289 you`re lucky to be living in a Republican state where the majority of voters sway the "Independents" vote in the proper direction 😀 Though, I don`t understand the high property taxes in the Akrsarben state, Democrats musta did that to you guys and the Republicans can`t fix it. In Iowa Terry Branstad protected farmers from property taxes that`ve held so far through a couple idiot Dem governors, one being ol` Vilsack.
But the great (former great state) of California, their governor has some highly restrictive laws banning sales of gas powered cars and the idiot governor of Minnesota is buying in on a lot of it, I think he backed off after finally hearing what people outside the governor mansion were saying, however they re-elected him... well those who re elected him don`t exactly own cars. Point being you "Independent voters" won`t have a choice on what kind of new car that you want to buy in 2035. Non-Democrats still have to follow Democrat rules, if they live in a Democrat state or... country.
snip:
Minnesota last year announced an initiative called Clean Cars Minnesota, in which the state pledged to adopt stricter California emissions rules starting with the 2025 model year. But California in August codified a plan first announced by its governor Gavin Newsom in a 2020 executive order—to phase out sales of new internal-combustion cars (excepting some plug-in hybrids) by 2035.
The Upper Midwest state doesn't currently plan to follow California that far. A Democratic framework sets goals of making 20% of vehicles on Minnesota roads electric by 2030, and reducing transportation-related emissions by 80% by 2040.

Re: : Yeah sure, "Let the market decide",
It looks like the original law started around 1909 and went through many changes by 1927. Was a long read and didn't find out how the split was on voting. FDR and Truman both tried to end the allowance during their times in office, but the democratic control of the senate and house did not vote to end it. It seems the oil lobby had quite an influence even then. Very interesting when all 3 chambers were democratic, with the President wanting to end it, nothing happened. Very much like When the Republicans had the Senate and House under Trump and trump wanting to end Obamacare, it didn't happen because of the Health Ins. lobby. I don't think we realize how little our elected leaders are really for the Republic, and not their own pocketbook.
