Re: OK Marketeye...... Heres the question......
There has been a lot of talk about China buying U.S. corn. Because they like to buy fresh crops, right out of the field, the feeling was China would buy in late fall period. I think this early buying has caught some by surprise. I'll keep digging for more opinions.
One analyst is saying, "I say, who knows what will happen now? We had the extreme reaction to an extreme situation, the Japan nuke crisis. China buying U.S. corn is not going to be bearish though. Lots of people expect the corn to eventually return to its highs or close to it and this will help for sure. I also think prices will generally move close to the previous highs, but we might just take a look at the acreage forst and then as I say, the geo political economic developments around the world too."

Re: OK Marketeye...... Heres the question......
I'm guessing the Chinese would like to build reserves of corn but didn't want to be seen as driving up the price when it was already sizzling. They were buying feed wheat and that activity didn't get so much attention. But when the market took a big paper dive it gave them the opportunity to buy and not be seen as the 400 lb gorilla for the moment.
China is very image conscious when it comes to getting the market excited, and they aren't interested in creating conditions that add to supply fears - which ultimately cost them too. China is the #1 influence in ag markets. Part of that is the constant second guessing of their true needs, policies and central decision making - in short, everything is political connected to China at some level. And a person has to be somewhat cafreful building a position based on China because they can reverse and reverse again as it suits their many purposes. This is to their advantage. It also prevents a big interest from painting them into a corner. I also think it keeps the market on its toes and healthy.

Re: OK Marketeye...... Heres the question......
What I can glean over my weekend reading, China likes new crop corn not old. China is the smartest traders in the world and wont buy at retail when they like buying at wholesale.

Dapper. The government is not trying to tax ourselves into prosperity. They are trying to tax prosperity in order to fund government. It's those that think we can do all things big and small without paying for it. Some even think the lowering revenues is the way to prosperity.

Re: OK Marketeye...... Heres the question......
frankne,
The problem is like that one calf or that one cow that always seems to find a hole in the fence. No matter what you do, that animal finds a way out. We're working on it. It happens to me too, just so you know. Hang in there. We will all be better for it, once the "hole in the fence" is fixed.
On a separate topic. Frank, you think this week will be all about rallying off of the China news? Or, does the market chew through that news quickly and look for something else to trade? I think this China news is like a good-tasting piece of fat on the edge of a ribeye, you just keep chewing on it for awhile. What do you think?
