OptionEye - The Cow Guy - Jan 28th

Good chilly morning to you all.

State of the Union speech getting most of the headlines around here this morning. Income inequality, education and the economy set to take center stage.

Corn down 1, beans down 1 and wheat up 3.

Wheat bouncing back after a long slide on weather concerns. Overnight volumes were decent.

Gold trading at $1255.43 which is down $1.67 and oil is up .54 cents to $96.26.

Fed meeting today will put a damper on volumes as traders look for some guidance on the economy and future growth. The latest round of stock selling has Yellen and Bernanke in the cross hairs. Will they continue the taper? Can the economy handle it?

This is when they begin to earn their money.

Scott, here`s Ronald Reagan`s 1988 SOTU speech.  Notice how our country was unified at that time, Bush #41 and Speaker Ft Worth Jim were glad handing each other.....What the heck happened to our country in the last 25 years???

You sure aren`t going to hear a speech like that tonight!

Re: OptionEye - The Cow Guy - Jan 28th

BA Deere,  I was 11 years old when this speech was given,  I've had the privilage to grow up in a Post Reagan country.  The whole time I was in high school, college, I was the out spoken "conservative" agaisnt all the liberal teachers, union leaders, and anyone else that came along. I might be the only college student ever in the history of America that the teachers union sent a representative to come talk to me during class.  ( the last I saw him he was running out the building)   I was the leading force in getting a professor fired because he wasn't worth a **bleep**, so I decide enough was enough and took care of.

One problem in the last 25 years,,,,Unions,,,,the 2nd, Corporate greed, NO CEO is worth millions and millions of dollars in salaries and bonuses.    In the last 25 years we have redefined what the "amerian dream" is.   Its to get everything paid for by someone else, and sit on your butt.   This is the new American dream. To be a lazy bum and not give a **bleep** about anybody, anything, or themselves.

What also happened was that the big shot didn't make enough money if we are not at war.  War is a huge money maker.

Farmers had the toughest time in a geneartion when Reagan was in office,  and I remember the word Reagan wasn't a great name in my neck of the woods.  But when you look at what Reagan did, how he did, Reagan was probably one of the best presidents the country ever had.   There was no talk of New world Order, or spending more money, or raising the minimum wages.   Reagan in the speech you post talkes of spending less, when was the last time any president said spending less.

Alot has changed in 25 years and I well be very long time before we get back to that.

Re: OptionEye - The Cow Guy - Jan 28th

Yes Highyields, we were a "United" States back then.  Now, I don`t know about tonight`s SOTU address, but I`ll bet it will basically about assigning "blame" and making exucuses of what was "inherited"....Dude! You wanted the job!

In 08 we were told how the country would be brought together, if it wasn`t so sad it would be a joke.  No one can agree on water being wet, these days.

I didn`t agree with everything Reagan did, but he brought the country together and left the country better than the way he found it, you can`t ask for much more than that.

I would just encourage everyone to watch past SOTU addresses and compare them to what you`re going to hear tonight.  We need a "baseline" to see where this country has gone.

Re: OptionEye - The Cow Guy - Jan 28th

I have a big heartburn over CEO pay.  It is just a big rigged game.  If you are a CEO, you likely sit on the Board of Directors of a couple of other companies.  So those board members are happy to give the CEO more money because that will justify more pay for them.

The company I worked for was a division of a large corporation.  All the Big Wigs at our plant were just little fish in the big pond.  When they split us off as our own company, the Big Wigs pay went up by a factor of 10!!!

Obama and today's democrats are not in the same league as Ronald Reagan.

Reagan started the war on labor. First he broke the back of the union of flight controllers. Then he cut taxes on the affluent and raised taxes on labor. SS taxes.

Reagan had a congress that worked with him. Obamas congress has obstructed all that he has tried to do.

Re: OptionEye - The Cow Guy - Jan 28th

President Reagan won re-election with a 49 state sweep.    That,  in politics,  is a mandate.   And those in Congress-Senate knew it.

The current Resident In Chief got fewer votes in 2012 than he did in 2008.  And now his job approval polls have sunk to new depths.

Congress-Senate views this dude as a lame duck,  a very lame duck.
