Organic beet prices are off the charts
I just got a call from one of my growers who raises pumpkin seed for me. He said he was offered a 2015 contract for Organic table beets that works out to $480,000 for just 29 acres! He wouldn't sell them this years crop because it was already committed to the fresh market buyers at the same price! Yikes.... No more pumpkin seed coming my way! Beets yield about 4 ton/acre I think. Wow....

Fools and their money are soon parted! If the market will bear it, why not take advantage. Pumpkins, onions and watermelons being grown here for some healthy profits.

Are growers in your area raising pumpkins for seed or the canning market?

Oh, that's a different ballgame than the snack seed market.

I would imagine so, but they still seem pretty happy with the net.

Do you have access to seed extraction equipment in your part of the country?

I know nothing other than what I have passed on above. Appreciate your posts as they get folks to thinking about the possibilities.
