PP plant corn for sure now

My last 200 acres of 720 planned corn acres WILL without a doubt go into PP.  No nh3 on the ground yet and too many of the 520 already planted needs replanting.  No chemicals have been applied to 420 of the planted acres and weeds are going to be the next hurdle.  1.5 inches again today on already saturated soils with water standing and rain everyday for the next 10 days in the forecast so planting corn is over for me as PP option is May 25. This is a real mess!  Several don’t have a seed planted, lots needs replanting.  That’s what we’re dealing with in NCMo

Just remember, you didn't decide this until the 26th.

Re: PP plant corn for sure now

I’m 61 years old and have enough farming experience to do the math.  It wouldn’t dry out in 7 days on this river bottom land if it was 80 plus and windy everyday with full sun.   I didn’t plan on PP, never do, the weather has determined that.  It’s not fun to do that, it’s necessary. Other option is plant it to $8 beans? Hmmm? Rain in the forecast for the next 10 days at least, then it will take 7 days after that to dry out puts us out to after June 1st before we get back in.  Have I missed anything else I should factor in?

Not doubting you at all.  Same boat here.

Re: PP plant corn for sure now

Just double check your date for PP, if in MO I thought they were all June 5th, not May 26th,

it might make a difference, it might not, but just check with your agent and get the

details on the claim right....they would love to cheat you out of paying.
