Are  corn  bids  in Oklahoma  &  Texas  panhandle  region  an  indicator  of  available  supply ?   $8  +  bids  for  May  with  bases  of  +80   cents  !

Freight  co$t$  are  adding  up  ,  it  appears .

Lots of cattle to feed there, but not a lot of corn grown locally. Probably trying to attract NE KS  & Eastern CO corn from 150+ miles away...

My son is an owner operator, but pulls a reefer not a hopper. Rates for that have gone from $3.75-$4/mile to $5 - $5.25 a mile in the last year. He says he's making money when the mileage rate is about the same as the diesel price.

SMn diesel is mostly $4.97, north Iowa $4.84, by Ames it`s $4.50

My son says to note that the diesel at a truck stop will be 40 - 50 cents higher because, in exchange for the higher price, they get to park overnight and a free shower... Your Stop-N-Go will be cheaper than your Petro station.

volume discounts are in play as well.  I have not paid pump/listed price in a very very long time...

Hobby - Checked with my son and he says he uses mudflap whenever he can, but there aren't as many places to use it out east where he hauls frequently. But I hadn't heard about it and I go back and forth to Texas often so I downloaded the app. Thanks!
