Photos: Argentina's Fires & floods Update
We are getting 'on the ground' reports from Argentina, regarding its outbreak of crop-damaging fires and floods. Luis Vieira, freelance writer for Successful Farming and Agriculture.com, is based in southern Brazil. Here is what his Argentine contacts are reporting to him:
The fires started in the second half of December until now. They are still happening in the border between Buenos Aires (in its southeast) and La Pampa provinces, a key wheat producing region. The fires affected at lest 1.9 million acres and would take a toll at soybean fields too. The fires started when the wheat harvest was close to 80% of the total area. After the wheat harvest, soybeans are planted....
The floods are concentrated in the Northwest of Buenos Aires, south of Santa, western Entre Ríos and south of Córdoba. This is the major soybean producing region of Argentina. Here I send a few photos sent by the Argentinian Rural Confederations (CRA).

Not enough smoke and fire. No, today's plummet had more to do with Cheena cancelling U.S. soybean orders.
