Planting Progress MN, ND, SD, IN, MI?

How is everybody coming along this week?  Ohio is starting to dry out in a few areas.  May see 10-15% by weeks end.  We are certain to have a fair amount planted in June or switch to beans.

West Central MN: Planted the first spring wheat April 21st on sandy ground, planted the last today (May 12) on the heavy ground by driving around all the muddy spots.  Planted corn May 3-6, but it all went on sandy ground with only one small area of standing water to drive around.  Hoping to start beans Monday.  We only run 360 acres total.

Planting progress is extremely variable as the soils are extremely variable in the area.  Here is an article in the Minneapolis paper today (May 12) featuring a local farmer:  http://www.startribune.com/business/121677259.html

Depends where you are at...Southern Valley I think they are doing alright.  NE of Fargo-Moorhead we are behind pace...most people 3-15% planted.  This upcoming week is going to be critical.  If we can get in the field, we will still plant our 90 day corn.  If not we will start backing off on maturity lengths in favor of earlier maturities or beans.

N E S. Dak.  50 to 60% corn planted some beans. Over an inch of rain last night. People calling on different seed maturities, . people stopped planting oats and spring wheat last week.  Another week to try corn.  Many fields are hard to get to and under water. Guys are willing to do the prevent plant on corn , with beans priced as they are. No risk, noworries.  There will be less acres planted than last year. Corn beans wheat and oats.. Get into the flatlands , standing water with nowhere to go.

southeastern minnesota (dakota and goodhue county) we have about 40% of corn in but this week was only  maybe 5% of it. had a good run last week. I would say locally the corn will still be going in the ground 2 weeks from now. progress will be slow alot the fields we have left are really wet they need 5-6 days of sunshine. some may be switching to soybeans on our farm. average for our area would be around 40% also

Here in NC Mo. it is now too dry.  Planters are scarcely running but lots of beans still to plant.  Some spotty rains came thru a day ago and litterally dumped.   Lots of corn got replanted in the state that had been planted in the Apr. 12-15 window.   Lots of guys tore up everything and just started completely over.
