Planting

Got started planting our good corn (not dry land) yesterday late. We got 185 acres planted and rained out now.
The corn we planted a few weeks ago is coming up.

Re: Planting

That's hard to answer. I have seen corn planted in late Feb. three different years. Two of them it did good, the other year the corn was about 40 miles from me and,I don't know how it did.
In 2007 we had a nice warm dry March and a lot of corn was up a half knee high when the Easter Freeze hit it some where around April 8th. Graveyard dead by noon that day.
March 11th is our insurance day. It just depends on the year, temp and rain as to what's good. We can plant till the first week of May and not see much if any yield reduction but we have to water it several more weeks, the earlier we plant the less we spend on water.
The corn I planted 3-4 weeks ago is up but I haven't checked stand, nothing to do about it till we are done planting good corn now (it's dry land corn).
