Re: Poll: Corn rationing price?

Jeff-

Here is the best model I have seen regarding the profitability of ethanol

http://www.agmrc.org/renewable_energy/ethanol/tracking_ethanol_profitability.cfm

i will summarize his June numbers (he does an average over the entire month):

Corn $7.11

Profit per gallon of ethanol: 6 cents

for June oil averaged roughly $95 /barrel. at $85 a barrel this thin margin is surely gone.

Re: Poll: Corn rationing price?

Around here, rationing is already happening.  Cattle feeders are buying a few less calves, to have the ability to 'grass' a larger percentage over the summer, hoping corn will be cheaper by next harvest.  Not a lot, but maybe 10-20% less calves to go straight to grain.  They will go to grain eventually, but they will go on later, and likely eat less.
