Re: Rain California!!!
That is one web-site that I watch. It clearly shows that the storm track running from west Texas to New England is shifting.
The flow off the Pacific is moving further south which will bring moisture into California and cool them off.
The cold air that the jet stream has been bringing south into the middle of the US will be replaced by a more westerly flow.
This shift in the jet stream was forecasted weeks ago and is one that many will appreciate. As with all weather patterns some will like the change and others won't.

Re: Rain California!!!
I did some fairly desultory inquiry into the thesis that the last great CA drought (not as gerat as this one) peaked '76 through '77 and thinking about my memory (confirmed upon investigation) that those were dry crop years in the WCB.
Can't say that I found anything that I'd say was convincing.

Re: Rain California!!!
yes they should be measuring it in the 30-50 feet level at high elevation by this time of year.
The snow in the sierra's is one of the biggest and most dependable weather events in the US ---- the whole state lives off it the rest of the year.
What the Donner Party ran into is normal not rare.

Re: Rain California!!!
Sill not too late to get a little catch up in some areas out there.
Think it was three years ago in the late winter Areas west of Reno received 10 to 30 feet of snow with one event. The wife and I rode the train out to Reno (it was as far as you could go as the tracks had 10 to 30 ft of snow over them and took a couple of weeks to get them opened up. ) rented a car and went and saw it. The Squaw Valley side of Lake Tahoe had 10 to 12 feet of snow the east side of the lake area was still brown.

Re: Rain California!!!
14 now at 9:22 am Thats a heat wave from yesterday ------------- todays high in less than 5 hours ----- 46
Lookin for those "ever lovin bulky shorts" ??????????
local joke ----------- In the 1950's and 60's there was a local market radio program out of Dodge City, Ks ----- early---- you could listen to the market prices, eat breakfast, fuel your tractor, and get to the field before light enough to see the crop.
The fun lovin young guy who read em, assuming no one was listening, and without a clue, had no idea what wheat shorts were. I worked for a cattle man and a farmer who both looked forward to those reports every morning from behind a set of headlights.
One of those snapshots of youth.
