Rain Coming

How much faith do you have in receiving a rain on your farm

if you are a bit dry and need something for the beans

We already got our inch of Aug rain, so we don't really qualify as being dry

However, I have no idea what your needs or chances may be

Just wondering how much of the country needs rain and think they will get some

Re: Rain Coming

I'm kind of in the same boat you're in wglassfo. I received between 1"-1.5" on all my farms within the last week. I'm sitting decent for this time of year but the cooler temps have helped. If we could pick up another inch or two during the next 2 to 3 weeks that should finish us out for 2014 and give us a good jump start for our 2015 winter wheat.

Re: Rain Coming

Southern Minnesota. Floods in June, record rainfall in fact has turned into almost 7 weeks with about an inch total since then. Flooding took acres, dryness is taking the top off. Walking the fields, corn we'll have a decent crop. Walking the soybeans looking for aphids which by the way so far knock on wood have been finding very few but boy they need a drink. Leaves were flipping yesterday with a high of 81.

Re: Rain Coming

Havent had a drop in NE ND for 4 weeks now! Lot of beans with leaves curling.too late for wheat seeded mid may but could stop the late planted canola and wheat from premature death if we get a rain soon! Very soon

Re: Rain Coming

What county you in farsider?

We have the same issues in our area of Le Sueur county except we had to spray for aphids this week.

NW part of county has gotten rain with one of them being a heavy downpour.

Just can't get enough rain to cross the MN river valley.

Corn is filling ears and beans are flowering/setting pods.

Won't finish too well on just subsoil moisture and heavy dew.

Re: Rain Coming

There was no comment on this "rain" story yesterday

Is this signficant?  I should think it is......

Re: Rain Coming

It is a huge story------ and a real discouraging one for those of us who have been living with this issue for 4 years now.

meaning --- it probably ain't over.

For Marketing ------ If it proves true  -- we live in an "if it is in print it is probably somebodies propabanda" world  -----  It is a very big story.
Especially when corn is in a fire sale position.  And wheat is in limited supply and reasonably priced.  China is one of our lenders, if they need it, what we have is theirs.

Re: Rain Coming

Freeborn, hit and miss on aphids I hear. Going to keep vigilant because those little devils can seem to invade and multiple overnight.
😞
Is it amazing that even a little topography change can see a wide variation in rainfall, we see it with I 90, Seems to be a dividing line.
It's probably just a bit of paranoia when you need rain and it can't quite get to you.
