Re: Record yields on the way...everywhere?
Time, I see that every day and have for a while now. I suppose those who`ve sold too early or for some reason love seeing farmers raise crops below cost of production, will say "aw, we see that every year and still raise 300 bushel corn over most of the 95 million acres".
I think when harvesting, even the good stuff this fall/summer, "the phantom" will be even more evident.

Re: Record yields on the way...everywhere?
Here in the Dakota's we've managed to find a group of people even more incompetent than the Biden Administration (if you can believe that) - NOAA Meteorologists! Of course, NOAA IS part of the Biden administration....
Three weeks ago they were forecasting 70 - 80% chance of 3/4 - 1 inch for days, until about 4 hours before the storm was supposed to arrive. We got 0.04". This past week they were again forecasting 70-80% chance of 3/4 - 1 inch. This time they were a lot closer - we got 0.05"!! Most of the time this summer when we did get 1" rains. they were predicting 20-30% chance of precip.
They're not too bad predicting temps, but they should just admit they have no ***** clue when it comes to predicting precip amounts. Paraphrasing Sheldon Cooper - "Meteorology isn't a real science!!!"

Re: Record yields on the way...everywhere?
I rather doubt that a new administration that hasn't even been able to get much of its National Security team past procedural roadblocks in the Senate has been doing a lot with NOAA, one way or the other.
But yes, the models have run too wet consistently this year.

I thought my crops looked bad from the lack of water. It must be those “timber soils”.

Re: Record yields on the way...everywhere?
Amazing the republicans have that kind of control with a democrat majority in house and 51-50 split in Senate, you know the vice president has been doing some voting to get things passed. Maybe it is all those executive orders and he forgot to nominate people to those positions. I am sure he will be able to push this off as "trumps fault". Convenient to forget the delays in the last administration to get personnel in place.
Better yet, satellite imagery has my corn at 231 average here in Nebraska at last report. Needless to say, that will not happen, Aquamax corn is getting tested this year. I did not win in the rain "lotto" this year.

Re: Record yields on the way...everywhere?
Update on NOAA. They're predicting half to 3/4 tomorrow night at 70% chance. Heard that song twice before and we got bupkis - not just us but everywhere within 90 miles. Today they have us at 0% chance, with a 20% chance tonight. Big storm 70 miles wide just went over. Brunt of it is passed, still light rain but 0.55 so far. Only time we get rain over 1/4" is when they aren't predicting any!! First rain over 1/2" since July 17 (second rain over 0.05"). This rain will benefit maybe 50% of the crop. Many beans already gave up and dropped the top flowers and pod sets, and a lot of ears are already tipped down.

Re: Record yields on the way...everywhere?
Maybe it takes a committee in Iowa to figure storm damages now. That way it perhaps seems more correct to get some socialist storm help $$$$ .
