SOI neutral -- La Nina or El Nino?

Just saw this on Twitter from Elwynn Taylor, climatologist at Iowa State:

"The 90-day SOI fallen to 0.56, neutral territory, it will take a week or two to see where it is really headed, to negative would be good."

So, sounds like we're neutral heading into the bulk of planting season -- What's the smart money on, El Nino or La Nina prevailing this spring and summer?

Betting on that reminds me of the classic Warner Brothers cartoon "The Gambling Bug."

I can only hope it turns toward el niño. I'm so sick of mudding in the crop and getting stuck with the tractors and sprayer and combines the last 2 years it would be a welcome change.

La Nina on its way out right now; probably neutral conditions for this spring. Doubt that El Nino can come on fast enough for it to influence the weather for the summer of 2012, so neutral conditions for the growing season as well.

Thanks. Makes sense to me and good to have an opinion from someone who knows a lot more about it than I do.

Will the board trade El Nino whether it arrives or not?
