i agree RT
not sure what the big deal is about 25% of inbound corn being 16-17%
i guess on farm storage is a new thing to many, i take that for granted that its been a part of our system for generations for many reasons including livestock and time management
only thing I would suggest is get bins cored before summer hits, after that, no big deal if you have the fan HP to make er sing

You guys must live in the Garden of Eden. We are delivering corn that was dried at harvest to 15.5 and was stored in bins with big fans and it is slowly going blue moldy. Tops of the bins always look good in this situation, mold is down 3'. This only happens to us in years of low quality due to drought stress (which we had last summer).
So, if I could just counsel those that don't live in the garden of eden, the bins should be cored in December, or very early January, not spring. Especially if it went in wet.
Of course, this is just our experience. Lots of bins in this part of Ind in trouble from what the guys at the dumps tell our drivers, btw.

We normally use or dryer and do as Econ said, but this year we had quite a bit of corn that got to about 17 or so, and we just put it in bins. Then we froze it and now the guys are delivering some and taking out the centers. Most coming off the tops of bins has dropped to around 16 to 16.5. My nephews point is if you take a little discount you at least receive all the value to the base moisture. If it is too dry, that moisture and therefore weight is gone forever. The only other choice is reconstitution , and that is illegal.

how much air has been on that corn since it went into the bin, TIME?
even 15.5% corn needs a puff of air every couple of weeks to help it breath and clear out any condensation and moisture migration
spending a bit extra on electricity will pay for itself in one load of junk corn, let alone a bin full

Goodness sakes....we know to how and when to run the fans. Based upon temps, humidity, etc. These fans ran for about 18 of the last 45 days. The other 4 100k bins are fine. All handled the same way. Just offering folks a word of caution and urge them to climb the ladders and walk around it all.
