I seriously doubt that corn would have a 2 in front of it if this were to pass. Profit margins .70 to $1 are going to ensure it keeps getting produced. I am surprised that Diane agreed to weaken gov. Grip on anything!

After reading a few of the comments I'd say we are doomed. Just make sure it's there kids that come back with missing limbs or are in a casket. Trade offs are a % itch.

That would have been a valid argument a couple of years ago but with the dawn of fracking for oil here in the USA many will argue that ethanol is no longer necessary since our dependence on foreign oil is plummeting.  This isn't my view but I'm afraid it will be one used in the argument to get rid of the ethanol mandate.

I guess instead of putting ethanol in the cars, we will just end up taking the corn to the dump for incineration.

Seems to me corn and corn producers have been around a lot longer than the RFS. Not saying I'm against the RFS, but it would probably eliminate some of the fringe acres that aren't really suitable for corn but the insurance guarantee made them profitable with minimal effort or risk by the producer. I'm not innocent, I fell in the trap of planting corn to ensure an EASY profit from subsidized insurance. These acres could/should be seeded back into a commodity that it more suitable for its location. Milo, soybeans, sunflowers just to name a few. If we balance our production acres with the crops that they are suitable for producing, our commodity prices will return but it won't be an overnight correction. I'm doing my part, substituting fallow for corn. Just saying.
