Significant sprouting in SRW

Those areas in the Midwest that have had trouble with rain have some of the worst sprout problems in 20 years. Most affected will be used as feed.

I suspected it was so but this is the first confirmation I've seen.

Re: Significant sprouting in SRW

Yep I've got about a thousand bushel in the bin that has been rejected. Looking for someone to take it as feed. Or maybe I'll buy a few calves and feed it myself.

Re: Significant sprouting in SRW

Large % of SRW is being downgraded in Ontario because of fusarium as well as sprouting, mildew and black point.

Some elevators claim 75-80% is grading feed.

Each area is a little different but large % overall is not milling quality.

I should add that it keeps raining, we get a day where wheat gets dry enough to combine for the dryer and then more rain.

Re: Significant sprouting in SRW

Was just told this morning by the co-op that the seed number I normally buy will be of poor quality due to scab. Looks like 14' will be an experimental year on my place.
