RE: It may not matter much anymore, Chinese devalued, the market's down 800+ points.
It may not matter much anymore, the Chinese devalued, the rest of the world will follow, leaving the US with the high priced currency. That means that any grain for export needs to become substantially cheaper just to sell anything at all.
The trade war has now entered a new and dangerous phase where it's dog eat dog and the devil take the hindmost.

Re: Slow Progress
At some point somebody has to wake up and realize that the 22% of the corn not in the silk stage on August 4th has vary little chance of making marketable corn. That alone is going to push the very poor numbers up in the 25% range.
If you jump out of a plane without a parachute your in good shape right up till you hit the ground. This crop is going to be the same way. A large portion of it is going to go from good and excellent to very poor in one night.

Re: Slow Progress
I was just reading an article in the buckeye farm news a county just north of me here in Ohio just reported only 4% of the intended corn acres got planted there and 30% of the soybeans!!! It is unbelievable to drive around this state and see the empty fields it’s gonna be hard on everyone around Ohio people don’t understand anymore that everything relies on agriculture but boy are they gonna get reminded.. from the jobs lost working on all of the farms, equipment dealers and their workers, fertilizer companies and their workers all the way to the grocery store it will be felt by everyone.. It’s really hard to talk to all of your neighboring farmers it’s just complete disgust in every conversation..It’s sure a long way to fall of 2020 and hoping for at least an average year .. hope for everyone else’s sake that it’s better where u are ..

Photo is my hayfield in east central Iowa. First cutting 800+ bales (small squares, approximately 45lbs each), second 400+, 3rd 55. It might be getting a little dry! Positively thinking, the mud holes have dried up! If your glass is half full, pour it into a smaller glass!!
