Re: So how good were the 70's
Oh YES the 70's !!!!! Boy that seens like ONLY yesterday -- lol --- Let's see here , I had 95 acres rented off of two neighbors -- Got out of high school -- made a ton off the 95 , sent myself to college ( 2 year school ) got out , got a great job at a fert. plant .
Brought a brand NEW 966 IH WITH and 5 bottoom plow ( open station ) BTW fuel was 17.5 cents for diesel .
Then there was the Doobie Brothers -- Elton John AND Linda Vaughn = Miss Hurst Shifter !!!!!!!!!!!! ( boy she had some BIG ones .
Thanks SILfarmer - I had forgot the early frost !!!!!!!! Dam it I had 55 acres of corn out that would NOT dry down - test weight was like 45 !
Then rented another 337 acres , Then the next year , another 300 --Got Married and brought a farm the same year ! ---- This was in the latter part of the 70's -- interest was only like 17 to 21 percent -
Come to think about --- the last part of the 70's sucked big ones - No wonder I have GRAY hair - and HIGH blood pressure -- probabaly from heavy drinking -- wondering how the h e l l - -- I was going to make things work AND just barely did . lol
But what the hey ---- We made it and if it was easy???????? everybody would do it --- Right ? LOL
