So, what'd I miss?
Good morning, everybody! So, I just returned from a trip with my folks to visit some old long-lost family in Germany. Made some new connections with some family, visited some beautiful countryside and saw a few farms, including the one my great great granddad left to emigrate to the U.S. It's still a working farm today. Pretty amazing, historical place. I'll throw together a little slideshow on some of the country we saw over there in the next couple days.
Anyway, so I've been out of here for about a couple weeks. So, catch me up! What did I miss while I was gone? Weather been decent? Everybody starting to roll? How are yields coming in? I see the markets aren't being too kind. I figured me being gone might turn things around!
Hey, thanks, all! Look forward to hearing what's going on at your place these days! And hey, who else has made a trip to where your family lived before they came to the States? Where have you been?

Re: So, what'd I miss?
now now Jen - we're Americans so we celebrate diversity - right?!?!
Jeff - Made a similar trip to Germany a few years ago with wife, daughter and father.
Found churches where some of my great-grandparents were baptized.
The church in Frieberg has records of the family and next to the names of those that emigrated is written "Amerika".
Wife's family is from the Mosul River valley near Pommern. Beautiful area as well.

We were around the Mosul River a lot, too! We were down in Saarland, in the village of Fremersdorf. Looks like about 150 km south of where you were. I'll be darned!

Re: So, what'd I miss?
Welcome back, and thanks for your cheery positive post. You missed some dryer, very pleasant weather. Yesterday two combines where rolling west of DMS, one doing beans and the other corn.
The combine doing the beans was turning around at the "hill side seepage" areas and was making ruts. Had another .7" last night and still raining. It will be an a challenging harvest around here. I have not heard of any yields yet.
What does the milo in your home area of KS look like? I sure hope the "mylow" in corn around here is here!!!

Re: So, what'd I miss?
Hi, Wind. Sounds like it's pretty dry out around the ol' hometown, but they've had a few showers here and there lately. Nothing to write home about. Probably average or slightly below-average milo yields this year, it sounds like.
