Soy situation in China improving.

Cheaper soy has improved cursh margins in China. Marubeni, the Japanese commodity trader that was caught by defaults by Chinese soy importers who hadn't provided letters of credit has made a record quarterly profit anyway, saying they had largely worked out problems with the Chinese companies. Marubeni owns US operations such as Gavilion and Columbia grain.

I consider Marubeni as possibly the most aggressive private commodity trader on the globe.

Re: Soy situation in China improving.

Palouser,

I am not sure where this fits into your thinking. But, I ran across a story, yesterday, reporting that China is having a 40-yeear drought. I'm trying to verify if this is in their heavy ag production areas or not.

After 40 years maybe the "drought" is the "norm"

Jen, You getting paid to surf the web ? 😉

Btw I answered your pm.

I don't think you have to go as far as China for people to think this is the new norm.  West half of Kansas ad Oklahoma are feeling that way too.

Mike,

How do you know the length of a drought when you are in it?  Or does that mean they have a bad year once every 40??
