Soybean planting intentions

Hey all you agronomist, marketing gurus, analysts, etc. get a reality check. It doesn't matter what we farmers intended to plant, it's not going to get planted. Not because we are lazy and slow but we can't get in the fields. Prevent plant date was 10 days ago. That date is not our date it's set by the Risk Management Agency(RMA). They know the risks of planting this late and so they give us an out by letting us file a crop ins loss after that date.
Let me say it again. Just because we intended to plant it doesn't mean it's going to get planted. Face it, we farmers have, it's over! Strong storms predicted tonight across Missouri and south Illinois where they are dealing with the same as Missouri.

Re: Soybean planting intentions

Will current prices cause anyone to still try to get some crop in or is it all over?  If you can plant, will you?

Re: Soybean planting intentions

It rained again last night and we are now at least another 4-5 days out of the field. It doesn't matter about prices. Our PP price is established in the spring so I bought some calls to cover an average yield on the PP acres. I done that the day we made our final decision to park the planter. This way if the bean price goes above the$9.73 PP price then I can still benefit. These are November $10 calls I bought last week for $.30
