Soybeans: A looming South American boom
There is no doubt that Brazil will set a record of soybean production. Brazil along with Paraguay and Argentina will plant nearly 123553 acres, which is an increase in eight percent in area. Brazil has exploited traditional frontiers such as Rio Grande do Sul state (moving from rice to soybeans) and the Northeastern state of Piauí, the latest frontier. Credit and investments on machinery are skyrocketing.
The exceptions are parts of the Cordoba province (too dry weather) and the province of Buenos Aires (recovering flooded areas). During the week, I will be back with more information about Argentina. I will be in Buenos Aires since tomorrow.
Have a nice week, boys!

Re: Soybeans: A looming South American boom
Sorry, "no doubt" is a little exaggerated indeed, but all the information available indicates so..

Re: Soybeans: A looming South American boom
Do not write off The reports of increased acreage down there.
The last few years the machinery sales down there have been setting records.
Any of you go to the Farm Progress shows the last few years? Did you notice all the Brazilian farmers at that thing?
All they have to do is have an average year to give the world a little breathing room on oil seeds. I think the market is telling us that right now.
rice is losing acres, many new acres have been and will be broken and brought into production. High prices cure high prices.
Much of what will be broken out will be good productive land in the future, not the marginal stuff we have left.
