Re: 7-13-13 Crop Moisture Index
Corn along my driveway goes from bare ground (too wet), 2' tall replanted, 4' tall poorly developed original stand, to 6' tall and tasselling in the good places. And, this is my best ground. On other side of driveway, soybeans replanted 7-4 look great if it was 6-1 (and that is one of the problems with the conditions reports -- it's 7-18). I already anticipate crop insurance claims on both corn and soybeans this year, in addition to the replants and some PP -- had no insurance claims myself in 2012.

Re: 7-13-13 Crop Moisture Index
These came from the same area and have a lot of potential
Worked the field in several directions, we saw corn field after corn field that the eye could see the diagonal wheel tracts in five foot tall corn. Also notice the large almost new grain elevator in the background. There are many, many of these scattered every 15 to 20 miles up there.

Hobby, you either need a new camera or a steadier hand. You pictures are blurry.

Re: 7-13-13 Crop Moisture Index
Just pictures the wife shot at 55 mph. These are not going to the State Fair picture contest.
Kind of a tough crowd here... don't like pictures of crappy fields and don't like pictures of better crops.
How about this one?
Right along the Interstate. Two fields of summerfallow, one close, one in the distance.
or maybe this one from a few days before the one above
Sunset over Hudson's Bay, Canada At about midnight
Lots of these this year
Potato's
one more
Found another one

Re: 7-13-13 Crop Moisture Index
Nice Pictures Hobby - especially liked that last one. I must have been fun to see in person.
Had to go up to Minneapolis this morning. It's hot with a hot wind blowing. 90+ outside. Crops aren't looking too bad at 65 mph. We got rain here about a week ago - 2 inches - that helped immensly. But the area that got rain was now real big, we just got lucky here. (Farmers here must be living right) But even with the nice rain a week ago, lots of dry spots starting to show up around the fields. With the hot wind, the outer leaves that are exposed look dry. We're just starting to tassle, and supposed to cool off for a couple of days at least this weekend. Still nothing big as far as fronts are concerned. The weather is kinda blah, no huge pressure differences across the US. Scattered showers possible and nothing widespread. Looks like the trade today is banking on the series of lows north of the border and some cold fronts to spark some showers. This activity should be mainly confined, once again to the Northern areas of the country. Still no hope for the WCB.

Re: Talking Heads Weather
I'm not sure of the different weeks you are talking about but it looks to me as if the week starting July 21 going thru the 27th will be wetter than most are expecting. Regardless if I'm right on how wet it will be, I am sure it will be extreme (wet or dry) with no middle ground.
From July 21 or 22 thru possibly the last week or last 10 days of Aug expect surprises of an extreme nature (weather) and colder than usual. Who knows but we will see shortly.
