Did you mean:

The "free market"

not that it is in particular.

But anyway, even these highly captured markets can cut both ways.

Sort of like getting a prostate exam from The Invisible Hand.

Re: The "free market"

Thank God we still have another safety net. Haven't hit LDP territory yet ........... here. But just read a fascinating conversation that N Dakota might be. If they can get the corn in ...... and dry it.

Re: The "free market"

In this part of the world there will be little in the way of immediate financial stress owing to very good yields.

Excepted are the (I'm guessing more than a few) operations that simply didn't do well managing the market volatility of the last few years or all the tax games etc.

However it don't look pretty going forward for much of anybody right at this moment.

Re: The "free market"

It's a feature of the farm program allmost everyone has forgotten about since the 90's. I guess it still exists. I even forget the details of how it works. Basically a farmer can get a payment equal to the amount prices fall below loan, as long as they don't take the loan.

Re: The "free market"

I think the LDP went bye-bye with the new farm bill. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
