Re: The real deal.
This wet weather is the real deal. Storms this weekend will put a nail in many acres planted and not planted. Corn and beans. If I were an enduser I would be all over these firesale prices.

It's ok, they will import all they need from SA. There's plenty of food in the world, just ask the traders.

Re: The real deal.
IH - This go's beyond just rain fall - there can and may be a lot of under lying problems to come - things like loss of N - Or fert- period - I have seen some pretty yellow corn in my area - Not from lack of N - But my guess is there may be a root problem as it had been pretty cool threw here and then add all the rain in - which since the last few days in May till now = 9.5 inchs - Lets throw in these dew point days running 68 thru 71 degrees = Maybe - disease in some numbers - yes my friends - there are a lot of unknowns - that's for sure -- I just love playing in the big casino - don't you ??

Re: The real deal.
Ecin,
Another problem is no sunlight,we need sunlight, micro nutrient def showing up. This crop is a mess. I'm expecting a 30 - 50 yield reduction in what does survive.
The corn that was mudded in early ,looked decent ,however I suspect it will turn backwards eventually.
Like I said this is historic and the market doesn't realize it. I do suspect a strong move up tonight.
