Todays trip to Paris
Today seemed like a good day for a trip as water is standing on the fields.
Paris just seemed like the place to go for the day.
From the time I left home till I got there water everywhere even on the side hills.
At about 150 miles from home it was raining on and off from slow intermintent to "on" on the wipers.
This is going to be the year of two crops (only if it stops raining in time for the second 1/3 to get planted).
Like I said water every where. Some planted crops not up, some up and looking pretty good, some getting drowned out spots. Eroision on a lot of NHEL ground...just too much rain too often. Almost any ground that was worked is a mess of soil loss.
Unplanted fields everywhere. some sprayed dead but many getting weeds 2 feet tall, and taller by the day.
No danger of a 14 billion corn crop. Beans are in trouble due to a very late planting on a majority of acres. The bloom is off the rose.
BTW: the trip was from South Podunk Country, Iowa to Paris , Mo. (and yes right now it is pronounced Missery)

Hobby, are you saying from your "drive" today you roughly observed about 1/3 of C/B planted? I'm trying to picture it.

Re: Todays trip to Paris
Seedy All my e-mails to you always come back as blocked. Still plan on looking you up some time. Had the PU and tandum dully trailer and retrieved a tractor.
I still have one more down in your county to get home sometime.
CX1; reread the post, I am guessing I saw 1/3 not planted. 225 mile drive each way.
Hwy 34 from Osceola, Ia to 14 south to Corydon, then east on 2 to 1 south to Lancaster, Mo then just s on 63 to Moberly and then East to Paris.
What little wheat I saw looked excellent from the hwy @ 65 mph.

Re: Todays trip to Paris
So what are you say'n' here Hobby ? you drove 225 one way and said - to your best guess 1/3 not planted -- then you drove --- back home --- 225 miles --and said 1/3 not planted that way either --so won't that be 2/3 not planted ??
seedy --- just give me the green light -- and I will head your way with the 49 and the Kinze - I should be there in what ?? 3 days or so .
