Re: Trend line ?????
There is probably less than average drown outs in N Iowa and S Minnesota this year so far..knock knock knock What I think is telling of this crop, that this was the first year Pro Farmer ever had a +300 bushel sample. About the only thing on the docket to take away a significant yield at this point would be a very harsh frost/freeze...I`m talking Des Moines getting down to 27º on September 10th or something. Drought is out of the picture, could be the reverse I guess the northern area that missed the spring deluges could now get ours during harvest..I wouldn`t count nothin out.

Re: Trend line ?????
Why
Because we won't even come close to last years record and they didn't find one last year
So are you saying we beat 171 this year?
Also. The sample came out of a narrow row corn field. Like it or not that skewed the sample calculations. I would love to have that field tagged and see the final weight tickets
I am sure IA is good. But it's not knock your socks off and might not be a record or not by much anyway. MN is good too, but I am not sure it's as good as advertised.
2/3rds of the cornbelt has some pretty major areas with major issues. IA and MN aren't going to pull it.
FWIW. Corn around here is outta gas. Color is leaving by the day.
FYI. Long term maps show dry and above and temps. Outta push this weak kneed corn out the gate too fast. Will be good for late beans except for those that are outta profile.

Re: Trend line ?????
Monday morning low is to be 47*- not a freeze but a stark reminder that colder weather is coming. In my early years of farming I do remember a freeze the first week of Sept that killed the corn here west of DMS. Crops are very green and well watered here, corn denting and packing a lot of yield punch.
Had three rains of over 3'' this growing season that put a lot of holes in the fields. I would say it will be a "later than normal" harvest around here.

Re: Trend line ?????
MT, I`m in the 160-165 camp..and it`s hard to be that subdued because every day I drive down a "tunnel" dark green, decent ears, thick as hair on a dog. I realize that isn`t all over the cornbelt, but there will be some good stuff out there, for some it will be the best crop they`ve raised.
I`m not one to count chickens, and I wish the price was better cause I`m naked as a jaybird. If the entire cornbelt had equal crop coming, we couldn`t give it away this fall. Last couple years we haven`t had it so good 2013 was a dud and last year was lackluster, though one guy claims he had nothing below 200 last year and won`t shut the hell up about it 🙂

Re: Trend line ?????
The crop across northern Kansas from Phillipsburg east to Missouri will offset any short comings in north Missouri
Most of corn south of Nebraska City is about mature, choppers running.
Met my bro at Nebraska City, he farms between Lincoln and Omaha. Has never had a crop of corn and beans as great as he has this year, all dry land.
Did yield checks on my corn 35 - 40 long 16-18 rows depending on hybrid

Hobby I was told that when I got to my destination in the Clay Center area last week. The man told me I needed to get one more county north to get into the good crops....... Along 36 highway--- the set of counties next to Nebraska....
How did NW Ks look..... The Hill City area?

Re: Trend line ?????
Met family in Fairmont, MN yesterday to celebrate uncle/aunt's 65 anniversary.
After dinner I went with cousins to look at a couple of their fields in Jackson County.
All I can say is WOW!! A few bad spots visible on light soil but overall crop is really nice.
Some SDS visible in a few of the bean fields.
