Re: U.S. Planting update

Little snow falling here, the hay and wheat fields have big ice sheets and ponding on them.  Neighbor just ordered peas and oats seed, for forage needs.  I am putting a rebult transmission in the 1 ton today.  Dropped it out yesterday.  Will need a new pan on the engine and new exhaust system.

Best part of day, taking care of Grand Daughter this morning.

Re: U.S. Planting update

Northern ND suppose to get another 3 to 5 inches of snow tonight and light snowfall tommorrow with with winds from 25 to 40. We already have 20 to 35 inches of snow on the ground. Also this coming week much below normal temperatures not even to get above freezing for the week. Early easter this year but sure doesn't look like early spring.  Last year on St. Patricks day we had 70 degree weather what a year makes in difference. My guess it will be late april to early may before field work begins here providing no more snow or rains of significance  happens this spring.

I mean ya start in with it's so dry and then scene two is it's so wet I will never get the corn planted and then the real drama begins whent he tears start and you 4x4 er's start bemoaning the fact that chicago don;t pay attention to ya.

Jeez I'll bet the drama teacher should bring in a couple of the Indiana grain farmers for a real drama lesson! LOL

Re: U.S. Planting update

ECIN, after blowing smoke back and forth with you for the last few months I've come to realize some of it isn't smoke, well maybe just a little of it. And that is the part that I appreciate, it's the boring part, but probably the part that I can get to most use out of. What really has me puzzled, and it's probably what has taken me so long to respond, is why not just buy a second Hagie? You could set one up for burn down and the second one could be your in season rig. Hell, why not a 3rd, that sidedress toolbar looks like it would be a nice option. This would free up some additional time that you could put to better use by contributing to this site. Only thing I can think of when I read your post about wrestling those little tires & wheels is, remember back a few posts when you were giving me hell about lifting 51# AMS bags?

Re: U.S. Planting update

Call me impatient boys, but I rearranged my shed yesterday and placed the tractor and planter directly in front of the door. With any luck, I'll get some seed placed in the ground within the next couple of weeks. Now I can only imagine what most of you must be thinking at this moment and believe me, I too would be thinking those exact same thoughts. However, before I get crucified by a few select few of you, allow me to finish. Over the winter months I've updated the electronics on the planter and also some updates to GPS equipment on the tractor, it all communicates together now & functions as one unit. My dealer would like to get it in the field and make a few test runs to get it all fine tuned. What better place to rid myself of a few leftover bags of cheap sorghum seed.

As far as my plans, today is the last day of my extended monthly weekend off from the off the farm job. Yes that's correct, I only get 1 weekend a month away from my job, so I cannot let them go to waste. I'm going to super tune my lawn mowers and get them ready for the upcoming season. Kids are home from school thanks to spring break, & my youngest is always looking for a way to get dirty. What better way then to let him perform his first ever oil change. I'm sure it will create quit a slick, so I've stocked up on a few extra bags of kitty liter, just the price we have to pay for training our relief. If time allows, maybe a reward of an ATV trail ride along the River, he's been hell bent to find a few antler sheds. As the old saying goes, all work and no play makes Shaggy a dull boy.
