Updated field-level crop progress report

We just released our updated corn and soybean crop progress reports. While the USDA publishes Crop Progress reports that estimate how the crop is progressing at the state level, we have created the first analysis that shows how crop progress varies within a state, and even from field to field within an individual county. Videos of crop progress are available for the entire Corn Belt as well as for individual states. The full report that shows estimates of crop maturity across the Corn Belt can be found here:

 this really shows how O2 deprived N leached - much of the belt endured after planting.......and how far behind still...........

Yes, the maps/videos in this week's analysis are CORN crop progress maps. The main video shows estimated corn planting dates for each part of the country (just look to see when a dot first appears on the map in a particular region) and then from that point forward the colors on the map indicate the estimated growth stage by date based on standard seed maturities that are planted in the region and field-specific GDU accumulation. To see more detail at the state level you can click any of the individual state links to view a zoomed in video of corn crop progress for that state only.

EDIT:  another consequence of the spring precip deluge is 40-50% of the belts Corn (much of which is already permanently damaged from choking) has a relatively superficial ROOT system.....so the weekly showers many places are not getting and will not get, looking out 14d will not do much for grain filling needs 'cause roots can't access the sub enough.

This crop and it's mkt's prices are more of a WILDCARD than the masses are letting on, going into next spring......you can think I'm a PERMA-whatever all u like - till your cows, chickens and hogs come home................just sayin'

Just keep in mind this corn market's tried to make us all PERMA BEARs last 11 months.......while it's also trying to put everyone into a comatose state......many have taken the medicine------the world's now awash in corn for the next year. uh huh?

It is interesting. One thing I of course noticed is that the area I reported on yesterday is - guess where - in the area that is still silking. My report is simply backed up by this system. Obviously, it looks fairly accurate.

I went over to Goodhue, MN today. It's 30 miles SE of Cannon Falls. Exact same thing as yesterday, just less prevent plant areas. And also in the area that this map shows as silking.

The map really shows the stark differences between this year and last. We've got a ways to go. And there is frost in the forecast tonight for northern WI. Man, does that suck.

OK cx1 I'll bite how does a crop progress map show the health of a corn crop?  The answer is it doesn't it only shows the stage of the crop in a certain area.

I'M using all the info I have, including this "growing map" --it is cool. knowing what the soil sat was on certain dates (can look back at all the maps) what this map DOES confirm are the dates and areas which were V6 or less......I know it's unquantifiable at this point, but i can empirically est. area that did incur some "choking damage." the wild card is how much.................then last few weeks and moving forward......these plants aren't getting what they need //edit. H20 and nutrient-wise b/c of the consequences of wet planting -- poor roots.

That is awesome.   You can sit there and watch planting progress.   I pinpointed my area and you can see the exact time frame of the flooding and planting delays.   One thing I notice.....this crop is far from made.   In fact, I'd say we might be screwed.
