Re: Video: July Weather Looks Dry Early
Didn't look at video, but in west-central MO, it is WET -- haven't been able to replant much, what did get replanted, or planted late June, got plastered by 4 to 6 inches of rain (again) in one rain event last week, and has rained a couple of times since. By the time it dries out now, assuming we get some dry weather, will likely be too late to replant beans and expect enough yield to recover costs. Corn is all over the place in both growth stage and crop condition -- some is silking, some is 10-leaf, and everything in between -- some looks nice and dark, some is stunted and yellow, some got flooded out, some got knocked down by wind and is goosenecked -- most got sprayed, some didn't. Ground conditions are poor -- fields rutted, erosion in planter and sprayer tracks, water ran over tops of many terraces with washes across the rows down the hills. Wheat -- a lot of wheat cut before big rain last week, yields good, quality poor, most has vomitoxin -- once guys get back in field to finish wheat, more will have been knocked out on the ground from wind and heavy rain, and quality will be worse.
PS -- thanks for the report-day price gifts!!!
Missouri -- because somebody needs to compete with Maryland

Re: Video: July Weather Looks Dry Early
Somewhere along the line - Mother Nature did NOT get this memo ! I know some may find this hard to believe - but from the dry forecast for today threw next Tuesday - we picked up a quarter this morning AND it's still sprinking around - well at least I won't have to side dress tomorrow .
BTW this list just keeps geting longer for me to do custom 28 for them - another call last night - Ken can you put on 400 acres for us ? There on the list - Corn is getting taller - well not really - V-11-V12 and not even shoulder high - well at least shorter corn is easyier to app

Re: Video: July Weather Looks Dry Early
Maybe Dan, the weather expert, should look at radar this morning. Don't see that dry weather, and it is still early July. Well, I should have watched the video and not read the headline only. Dan was calling for wet weather after the 4th.

Re: Video: July Weather Looks Dry Early
SCMN = a little over 3" since 3 am when the storm announced it's arrival with some window rattling.
At least the corn in our area is well above the "water line" and the beans in 30" rows
have canopied or are very close to it. We've been lucky so far.

Re: Video: July Weather Looks Dry Early
Eastern Story County Iowa. 4.3 inches this morning. If this is dry, I don't want to see wet! The water is over our gravel roads in all directions from my home-again. Water went over some of the terraces again. It is going to be an interesting harvest again this year. I better stock up on cornhead dividers. I am sure I will fall into more than one gully and destroy them. This weather pattern is getting old. I don't enjoy drought, either-but at least it doesn't destroy a bunch of stuff. It doesn't wash out roads and bridges and it doesn't remove topsoil at such a rapid pace.
They are calling for a possibility of heavy rain later today. I wonder what that means.
