Want $320/acre subsidy for beans?

[ Edited ]

Move to China, that`s what their new "army of farmers" will receive.  China with it`s empty cities they kept building (ghost towns) to keep the façade of 8% GDP growth, you can`t believe a danged thing out of that country.

I got a friend raising turtles and coining money doing that niche, they incubate the turtle eggs and raise them up to a box size and send them to China.  I asked him once since China makes widgets and such cheaper than we do, why can`t they raise turtles on their own too?  He says they get too greedy and put too many turtles in a pond and doing that is a disaster.   I have a feeling it`s that way with everything in that country, perhaps they can make widgets in a closed factory and get by, but farming is different, Mother Nature won`t work in your sweat shop.

"Take a day without meat, but not a day without beans" is a well-known Chinese saying, and cheap U.S. soybeans are processed into products from cooking oil to pig feed. China is home to half of the world's pigs.

"Sometimes, I think a trade war with the U.S. is a mistake, but it will be nice if the government is willing to subsidize us — the more, the better," Rao, 46, told NBC News.

His cooperative of seven farmers has shifted most of its 2,400 acres of land to soybeans in response to the government's appeal.

"Our farmers really hope that China will import less soybeans so that domestic soybean production and soybean-related businesses will flourish," said Yang Guiyun, the sales manager of an agricultural company in Bayan County in Heilongjiang Province, an area that is China's largest soybean producer.

As part of the plan, China aims to add 1.6 million acres to its existing soybean acreage of 21 million. The government is also offering subsidies ranging from $190 to $320 per acre, compared to $150 previously. Local media reports have described the drive as a "political priority."

Harbin-based agricultural manager Cao Guangxing said that the market price of soybeans has been kept low by imports, meaning many farmers have focused on other crops. "Without subsidy, we won't grow soybeans," Cao added.

Rao, the farmer, singled out American produce. "It's the genetically modified U.S. soybeans that are depressing prices," he said.

Re: What $320/acre subsidy for beans?

How about a reverse tarrif...where the exporter
Of beans from here to china, pays a tarrif here,
But the money does not go to trump
..ever notice tarrif collected to protect an industry,
Yet Trump takes the money ??
If we had a true system, we would need to set
Up trusts, and then figure out a formula
For distribution.

Something to think about.

Does anybody actually believe any of the tariff money goes to the president. What, like he has a bucket sitting out by the ships and they drop in a check when they go by.  And you know, Harry Potter is a real wizard.  Don't anger Thor or Ironman.  When you see the big green guy go running by, maybe it is time to retire from farming and go to the funny farm.   Sheessh!

Re: Want $320/acre subsidy for beans?

As far as Im concerned, the first shots of the trade war with China were fired when China rejected U.S corn shipments due to "unapproved GMO," only to then buy the company that created that specific GMO trait... Our government did nothing at the time...

China canceled shipments of beans only to buy them back weeks later when the market had fallen and money had left the farmers pocket... Our government did nothing at the time...

The trade war with (NAFTA partner) Canada started when Canada put a 270% tariff on U.S dairy goods... Our government did nothing at the time...

When a country like China that produces the "wants" of people takes on a country like the U.S that produces the "needs" of people, it won't end well for China. Americans need to get their heads out of the sand, Im tired of getting walked over, bring on a trade war.
