Re: Well boyz and girls
Sorry MT - Man this farming business can be a real B-t-h sometimes - Well it seems to me it's getting to be more common - But I was at a local elevator the other day , we were talking about all the rain in MO , TX and OK - I said I wonder how acres could be lost ? 700,000 ? The guy laughed - said how much do we lose around here when it rains hard around here - just what is along the rivers he said - Then it was my trun to LMAO at him - I asked when have we had 30 inchs of rain in a month or less like MO , OK and TX ?? I said if we got that kind of rain here - after planting - we would lose 75 to 80 percent of the acres - he did not have a comment on that one - thats the problem here - to many people in the business has no blanking clue about the business there in .
Be safe down there in the Showme !

Re: Well boyz and girls
That is incredible. I feel for all that are losing property and suffering other losses. Mother Nature can be very cruel. Any idea on the number of acres being impacted in Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska? Have a feeling it is going to turn hot and dry east of the Mississippi this summer but that is just my gut feeling. I will continue to pray for everyone out west. Hang in there everyone. If you aren't man enough to acknowledge this that is fine.

Re: Well boyz and girls
3-4M acres of beans will be PP
1-2M acres of corn will be PP
and thats just in the MO, NE, KS area
people dont realize the mess we are in
picked up more last night 21-22 inches in 31 days now
ran PP numbers again last night to make sure. Need 30 bushel/acre on them to break even VS PP option. And that doesnt included added cost of fuel, repairs, trucking that come into play VS not turning a wheel. That was input breakeven only, and low end input system at this point. And using $9 beans. $8 beans makes that number even higher
pretty much a no brainer.
we will try till the crop insurance date which is in 10 days (June 15th for us). its going to take 5 days of sun and wind and no rain before its fit to do anything. Be Monday before that happens if the forecast is even close to right. SO, that leaves us what 3 days.
Make sense now?
