Re: What Are Farmers Thinking?
Perhaps all the grain in the "tin cans" means farmers are becoming more wise as to how the game is played and that they are not quite a cash strapped as they once were. I think more are much better off than they will ever let on.

Re: What Are Farmers Thinking?
California, way down. No mystery there. Low margin and a drought. They can ship it in cheaper and direct the water to high value crops and saving perennial crops and fruits, nuts. Minor crop.
Washington has the highest corn yields in the country and was getting over $10 a bu a few years back for export and feeding regional feeders and dairy. But now they'll go back to higher value crops and the water availability is mostly going to be just fine. 4 cuttings of alfalfa will be fine. Probably make more money with dairy silage if they want to grow corn. Minor crop.
Idaho grows only with irrigation to feed regional feeders and dairy.

Re: What Are Farmers Thinking?
I'm still scratching my head on how these grow it bin it sell it guys are still beating your chests. Ok you got $7.82 in 2012 when a forward contractor got 6. In 2013 you got what ? $4.25 when the forward contractor got $6 2014 you are looking at $3.50 and the forward contractor got $ 5. Hmm seems like that's not quite as great as you like to tell yourself and post when you actually put numbers to it
