What???? The basis is improving?
Local ethanol plant improved their basis by three cents......and the local Co-op improved their soybean basis by a nickel. Heading towards the end of October and the bulk of harvest. This....is unprecedented.
The complacency of the CBOT is astounding.

Hobby, will there be any corn piles in your neck of the woods this year?

Yes
Gavilon Creston
Has one bean bunker over half full
Two 110 unit train capacity.
Most beans still in field.
Lots of good corn from me north.
Iowa is only marginally below a bumper crop

That’s good to hear for you folks out there. If you all run out of space, there some empty bins in Ohio. 😞

Say a $1.50 basis on the supposed $4 paper corn?
Heck, that still puts physical corn at $5.50 Cash Cost / Cash Price.
$5.50 is pretty Fair for all.
All things considered.

Re: What???? The basis is improving?
Whoa.
I am part of the less than bumper crop crowd.
I only got slightly half of my acreage planted to corn.
Then lost 60% of that to wetness and flood.
Replanted that the middle of June to beans on an uninsured basis to retain the full corn payment.
The beans were very green when froze dead the other day.
Verdict is still out on whether they will be harvestable, let alone saleable.
More net in all the insurance and various gov't handouts. The beans are the make or break between a fair year and a good year.
The raising of the PP to 75% is quite a gift.
The handouts are increased if you are in a declared disaster county any time so far this year.
I am.
