What happened ?

I haven't seen marketeye around for a while,
And been a long time since we have seen our
Friend in the Holstein vest.

Seems the whole site has just went to pot.
From where I am observing, the site has also
Taken on a certain political slant, and the level
Of civility has also declined.
While l am not perfect....even I am noticing.
I used to enjoy checking in....several times
A dad, there was thoughtful posts.....today,
More like high School....where you are in class
Wanting to learn something, and a small group
In the back keep disrupting.

Yes I agree those people can be distractions by. But maybe those people sitting in the back of class have more fun then those claiming to be more intelligent then the rest. Maybe those in the back know more then you think.

This place hasn’t been the same since the 2007 format change. The hig priced guru field hasn’t been the same since Mike fields died. He really could pick market tops. Even the paid gurus listened to him.

I recall there was a "John from south Minnesota" last name something like Pfaflinger?, in the Blue Earth area and he was quite a guru.  Then there was "North Iowa Farmer" probably a neighbor 🙂 but he was a perma bear, selling 3 yrs out at $4, trouble was corn went to $7 during that era.

I also miss plouser (didn't spell correctly), he
Was from the Pacific NW.

I don`t at all aim this observance at Palouser.   But the kryptonite for many gurus is someone that disagrees with them, unless 100% agree with them 100% of the time, they get butt hurt and quit, just a quirk that good price pickers tend to have.   The market eventually puts egg on everyone`s face..  Most years I have a diet of scrambled eggs   🙂

Dear el cheapo and everyone here on the boards,

Marketeye has been away for a while, just getting healthy. He's been home taking care of himself -- but he'll be back. We still value the activity here, and always check in to ensure it's civil ... but, sometimes it does get out of hand and we have to figuratively slap someone on the wrist, to use a school analogy.

By all means, keep the discussion going. Marketeye may be watching ...

But he'll be back after he's all mended. Shouldn't be too long.

I think what happens is the ferocity of the disagreement gets so bad that no one wants to stick his/her neck out and get it continually bitten off by people are not any better themselves but are sure good and knocking others down a peg.

I miss several of the psoters mentioned but don't blame them for not checking in.

Hi Jim.  I truly enjoy our bantering back and forth about the USDA's predictions vs. projections!  I don't think that you have ever talked "down" to me.    (even though you might have really meant to) 

If I couldn't take the criticism, I surely wouldn't be posting on internet websites.  

That being said, what do you think the USDA is going to come out with in their January report?

I have to confess I have no idea when USDA will come out with the report.  It's certainly a good question.
